How Marriage Doesn’t Benefit Men

Listen up, Men!

Marriage is a trap, a one-way street where you give and give, but when the dust settles, what’s left for you? Let me paint you a picture of the fate awaiting many men—because this is the reality you don’t want to face until it’s too late.

He’s 72 now. The same man who broke his back working to provide for his family, sending his kids to expensive schools abroad, sacrificing every luxury and pleasure in life to ensure they had the best education and opportunities. The same man who gave up his youth, his joy, his dreams—just to see them succeed. He is the father who raised kids who are now thriving in Europe, Australia, and America.

And what does he get for it? His wife of decades, now 62, has left him too, choosing to live abroad with their children. She’s with them, comfortable in their successes, enjoying her twilight years while he remains back in Nigeria, alone. Yeah, you read that right—ALONE. The man who sacrificed his everything is now facing the brutal truth: he’s been left behind, literally and emotionally.

Where are the kids? They’re too busy living their new lives to call their old man. He barely hears from them, and when he does, it’s just a formality. They’ve got their own families now, their own problems. They’ve moved on, and he? He’s starting over as a bachelor, battling high blood pressure and all the health issues that come with old age. There’s no one there for him, no one to care for him, no one to even talk to. How much longer can he keep going like this?

And this, my brothers, is the fate of most working-class monogamous men. You work yourself into the grave, thinking you’re building a legacy, but what are you left with when the time comes? Loneliness. Isolation. Regret.

This is the harsh truth they don’t want you to see. Women, no matter how good your relationship seems, will always love their children more than their husbands. It’s nature. The older you get, the less valuable you become to them. The moment the kids are grown and independent, your usefulness is diminished in her eyes. You become an afterthought, just another old man she used to share a life with.

So, what do men truly benefit from marriage? Think about it. You sacrifice your youth, your dreams, your health, your peace of mind, and for what? To raise kids who may not even care about you when they’ve “made it?” To keep a wife who’ll leave you the moment she gets the chance to live comfortably with her children? To spend your last days alone, wondering where it all went wrong?

The truth is, men are sold a lie. We’re told it’s a man’s world, but look closely—it’s women and children who reap all the benefits while men do the hard labor. And what’s your reward? A quiet death, probably sooner than expected, while they move on without you.

This is your wake-up call. If you’re not already thinking about your retirement plan, start NOW. Care for yourself as much as you care for your family. Love yourself. Build something for yourself because, trust me, when the chips are down, no one else will.

Don’t let this be your future. Wake up, men!
